You all must have heard about various ‘world’s highest’ points such as world’s highest motorable road, highest lakes, highest stadium and what not. There is one more such wonder that we want to bring forth, because THIS IS IT!
It is the world’s highest dosa point at 14000 feet run by the Indian Army Madras regiment. Just imagine having a warm finger licking dosa hot with chutney and hot sambhar in the bone chilling weather on the top of the mountains would be such an incredible experience, isn’t it?
While going to the world’s highest Gurudongmar Lake in Sikkim, the permits get checked. This dosa point is the stopover for the permit check on the National Highway stretching from Gangtok to Siliguri, on the banks of the perennial Teesta river. The huge lettering of the dosa point on the pillars outside the restaurant makes sure that you get distracted and not miss the chance to grab your dosa.
As we entered, we saw paintings on the interior of the rustic restaurant with tamil and telugu songs playing in the background. It was a small and cozy restaurant with seating available inside. Being maintained by the army, everything was proper and tidy. Even the toilet facility was also decently maintained.
The menu had South Indian delicacies, and tea and coffee at quite a reasonable price. We ordered dosa, idlis and two cups of coffee for us. We grabbed our meal and sat in the gazebo, enjoying the mesmerizing view of the mountains and rivers, having warm and scrumptious food in the foggy and chilly weather. The only downside, it gets quite crowded during the afternoon hours. So, getting a seat here could be tricky.
It was indeed one of our best moments from our trip! We would recommend you to stop by this place and enjoy the amazing food in the extraordinary weather there!
