A Royal Retreat: Our Time at Taj Falaknuma Palaca Hyderabad

If you have travelled in India you know that Taj Hotes are one of the most trustworthy chain of hotels when it comes to luxury. It’s one of the most famous names in Indian hospitality and yet in our recent trip to Hyderabad they outdid themselves! We recently went to the famous Taj Falaknuma Palace Hyderabad and trust me, this place is straight out of a fairytale!

No wonder, a number of movies have been filmed here including the recent smash hit KGF 2.

Grand Entrance Fit for Royalty

Picture this: we’re driving up to the palace, and suddenly, we’re asked to park our car about a kilometre away. Why, you ask? Because we’re about to get the royal treatment! We were hopped onto a horse-drawn carriage (yes, you read that right!) for a magical ride up to the main palace. Talk about making an entrance!

As we arrived, we were welcomed like the Nizams of old. Rose petals showered down on us, and the attention to detail was simply breathtaking. They even gave us some gifts which included a crown and a sword for our little one ‘Asher’.

Overall the entry was so majestic that we were really excited to see that amount of pampering we were going to receive over the next two nights of our stay.

First things first – High Tea at the Taj Falaknuma Palace Hyderabad is an absolute must-do! We indulged in an array of savoury and sweet bakery dishes that were delicious.

Pro tip: Come hungry, because you’ll want to try everything!

Now, for all you movie buffs out there (like us!), get ready to geek out. Remember that epic scene from KGF with Rocky’s world? Yep, it was shot right here! We felt like we were walking through a movie set as we explored the palace.

The Majestic Darbar Hall

Talking about KGF, do you remember the dining table scene? Well that too is a part of this great property. It houses what’s probably the world’s largest dining table, seating a whopping 101 people!

Here’s a fun fact that blew my mind: instead of regular menus, the dinner options were actually painted on the ceiling! Talk about looking up to decide what to eat!

Oh, and did I mention my favourite movie, Sita Raman, was also filmed here? It was honestly really exciting to see all the familiar spots from my favourite movie in person.

Our Upgrade to the Historical Suite at Taja Falaknuma Palace Hyderabad

Just when we thought things couldn’t get any better, we were upgraded to a historical suite. Let me tell you, it was like stepping into a time machine! Gold detailing everywhere – on the frames, panels, even in the bathroom! The pastel theme of the room made it look even more royal and the room was filled with historically significant paintings.

The room was massive, but the real showstopper was the balcony view. The entire city of Hyderabad stretched out before us, twinkling in the distance. We spent so much time simply gawking at the gorgeous vistas and loved every minute spent here.

Evening Entertainment and Culinary Delights

As night fell, we were treated to a mesmerising Qawwali performance. The soulful music in the open was truly magical – a memory we’ll cherish forever. I had only seen such performances on TV before.

For dinner, we had planned to eat at Celeste, but at the last minute, we switched to Adah for some authentic Indian cuisine. Best decision ever! The flavours were out of this world, and it was the perfect end to our day.

The Taj Touch

I can’t wrap up without mentioning the incredible staff at Taj Falaknuma Palace Hyderabad. They went above and beyond to make our stay special, showering us (especially little Asher) with gifts and attention. It’s this personal touch that really sets the Taj experience apart.

So, there you have it – our royal adventure at the Taj Falaknuma Palace! If you’re looking for a truly unforgettable experience that blends history, luxury, and a touch of Bollywood magic, this is the place to be. Just be warned: you might never want to leave!
