Book yourself a stay at the Sal Woods Forest Retreat & Spa, nestled in the gorgeous Doon Valley! Located amidst the misty valleys, it is one of the most gorgeous and offbeat hotels in Mussoorie (precisely Dehradun).
The sprawling oasis of exotically diverse flora and fauna, Sal Woods boasts of an atmosphere that is inimitably Asian. It is stunningly located beneath the canopy of Sal forests wherein you can immerse in the serenity of unbroken silence while enjoying the unbeatable Himalayan views.
A heartwarming Ganesha life-size idol greets visitors at the reception. The first thought to cross my mind was – so secluded – aah bliss!! There are Sal trees at every corner of the tastefully done retreat. All the wooden decks and terraces along the winding alleys look just perfect, complementing the aura of the resort set in harmony, offering unbeatable views of the queen of the hills – Mussoorie.

But that’s not all. The major highlight of The Sal Woods that sets it apart from other hotels in Mussoorie and Dehradun is the gorgeous gazebos, perfect for chilling with your friends or partners while admiring the beauty of majestic Himalayas.
We couldn’t resist the charming setup and found ourselves inside the gazebos every half an hour!
The rooms were pretty basic though they could have been spacious. Even the bathrooms were nothing extraordinary. What I liked about the rooms was its cute balcony overlooking the Himalayas – sheer beauty!
Meanwhile, The Sal Woods swimming pool is also amazing – large and overlooking the stunning valleys. You can indulge in an array of outdoor activities to unwind and make the most of your time. There’s plenty you can do – indulge in activities like tree climbing, mountain biking, crossing Burma bridge, rock climbing, archery, etc.
We highly recommend a stay in this retreat if you are planning a trip to Mussoorie or Dehradun as both are a short drive away. You won’t be disappointed!
You somehow really have a talent to find such hidden gems. 75USD doesnt sound that much to me when I see what I will get for this. The view from the Swimming pool just looks fantastic. All in all this could be exactly the kind of Spa vacation I would prefer 🙂
This is indeed a hidden Gem! What about travelling from Amsterdam to Mussoorie? I never been in India before.
Wow… The view and style of this hotel are just perfect!
Everything looks so natural 🙂
And what a price! Thanks for the tip!
I am always looking for places off the touristy roads. I guess, it’s great that so many people travel these days, but it also makes more popular destinations too crowded. Admittedly, I don’t have plans visiting Mussoorie anytime soon. However, if I ever decide to go there, the Sal Woods look like a place I would like to stay overnight or, perhaps, even couple days. The pool looks amazing! Thank you for sharing.
This place looks like the ideal place to relax and recharge the soul with positive energy.,It looks like the perfect retreat in nature. So great that it’s away from the touristy hustle-bustle of Mussoorie. And all of this for such a great price, You guys really found a gem! It’s on my lists of places to visit now and I’ll make sure not to miss it when visiting India.
It sounds interesting. I’ve never heard of Mussoorie before. I’m going to India in a month myself, but to Kerala. Maybe next time i’m going to visit this place!
A really cute spot for a mountain retreat! It is the perfect place where I see myself relaxing and enjoying the view! Plus, the price is really affordable!
I was to the Greek islands last summer and I enjoyed the gazebos, too. They are so perfect for sitting and dining, and the curtains create a perfect atmosphere. The retreat at Sal Woods seems a great one.
I like the idea that it is secluded. Perfect for relaxing and of course you want to have a quality time with your partner! Thanks for sharing this!
Looks relaxing and enjoyable perfect for those that like this sort of wellness stuff lol
This is a very interesting place, your pictures are amazing made me translate to the place. Hope one day to visit it, thanks for the recommendation !
It looks like a little corner of paradise! I love the photos too!
Sal Woods really sounds great! Absolutely loving the setting and the facilities are also good in accordance with the budget. Adventure activities are also a plus facility. Next time, I would like to check this retreat and spa when in Musoorie.
What a beautiful sanctuary that looks peaceful and not is not overly high-priced. I would love to stay here for a retreat and unplug for a couple of days!
Now, this really does look like a lot of fun and while $75 is not to be sniffed at, the experience looks more than worth it. Certainly, those little gazebos look like a wonderful place to sit and linger over a meal while the view from the swimming pool is just pristine. But, even when you are done relaxing, it’s great to know there is a lot more to do like archery and mountain biking which, I think most of us can agree, is pretty great value
This retreat looks amazing! I would love to come here and relax 🙂 And it’s not expensive at all, which is always nice! That swimming pool looks amazing btw!
I am definitely going to check Sal woods when I visit Mussorrie. I love these kind of offbeat and retreat places. Are these eco friendly as well ? it looks like that from the pictures of the cottages.
This is looks cool, I never been to India yet. But I have a friend from India who recommend me to visit India. I would definitely go to India someday.
